La Ribot 'Still Distinguished'

On April the 23th and 25th there were dance solos of La Ribot in S.M.A.K. (in collaboration with Vooruit).

Since a couple of years, the work of the Spanish dancer-performer La Ribot is since a couple of years a favourite at festivals, in galleries and museums. Her performances are something between expressive art , performance, theatre and dance. Still Distinguished Pieces consists of short solos, that can be presented as a work of art.
Every time, the starting point is her naked female body and the sensing of the boundaries and tension between dance and expressive art. This has led to three series, which together formed a performance that lasts a whole evening. Vooruit and S.M.A.K. presented her two last series. Mas Distinguidas (1997) in the Domzaal of Vooruit on the 24th of April (2003) and Still Distinguished (2000) in S.M.A.K. After these performances there was an opportunity to visit the museum.
