Pre-schoolers too young for the world of S.M.A.K.? Nothing could be further from the truth! 

Pre-schoolers enter the museum with open minds and discover the wonderful world of modern art. Together with one of the museum guides they will ‘look at’ works of art, look for colours, shapes and unusual materials and so on. For many pre-schoolers this will be an unforgettable experience.
 
Who: pre-schoolers from 2½ to 5 years old
Focus: collection presentation, temporary exhibition, general introduction, senses, word and image, individual theme
Duration: 1.5 hours maximum

Voyage of discovery 

An active guided tour for curious kids!

The museum guide will take the little ‘experts’ around the museum. They learn to ‘look’ at art, are encouraged to ask questions and so form their own opinions. The theme of this tour is challenging tasks. By ‘doing’, they unveil the mysteries of the art in the museum.

Who: children between 6 and 12 years old

The Bridge

Modern art or fine art? With your museum guide, discover differences, similarities and exciting stories that link early works of art and artists with those today. Cross the street and follow one circuit!

BIRTHDAY TIME!

An active voyage of discovery for the young birthday expert and his/her VIPs. The museum guide takes the children around the museum as if they were young experts. The theme of this adventure is the children’s own views and opinions on art. Challenging tasks encourage them to actively look at art and discover the mysteries of the works they encounter. Key words are looking, wonder and doing. The birthday boy/girl is given an exclusive group photo taken next to her/his favourite work of art to take home as a souvenir. If you would like to conclude the journey with a delicious S.M.A.K. Kids birthday cake, this can be arranged in the S.M.A.K.’s café Grade.

Admission prices S.M.A.K.

€6: individual visitors
€4,5: groups of 15 and more, concession card holders on presentation of membership cards: M HKA, MDD, Wiels, Mudam, MSK, Plus-3-pass, Knack-club card, over-55s and citizens of Ghent (on presentation of identity card).
1 euro: under-26s
free for children and under-18s, group supervisors and carers of people with a disability, or on presentation of a membership card: VMHK (Friends of the S.M.A.K.), teacher’s card, ICOM-card or press card.

Free admission for citizens of Ghent every Sunday between 10 am and 1 pm and every day during the Festival of Ghent (on presentation of identity card).
The museum also accepts Culture cheques, the Museum Passe-Partout, the Museum pass and the The Bridge Combi-ticket.
