To give the blind and the visually impaired a taste of modern ‘visual’ art, you need special descriptions of the works of art. Five guides who have received special training are happy to take groups around the current displays.

free for children and under-18s, group supervisors and carers of people with a disability, or on presentation of a membership card: VMHK (Friends of the S.M.A.K.), teacher’s card, ICOM-card or press card.
Free admission for citizens of Ghent every Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm and every day during the Festival of Ghent (on presentation of identity card).
The museum also accepts Culture cheques, the Museum Passe-Partout, the Museum pass and The Bridge Combi-ticket .

Walking and talking for those with a hearing impairment
This tour is fully tailored to meet the group’s needs. Our museum guide works with a sign language interpreter and takes those who can lip-read into account. Depending on the requirements, this tour is linked to a specific approach. Although the works of art play a central role, they are approached with a particular theme in mind.

This active tour has something for everybody and is completely tailored to meet the group’s needs. Depending on the requirements, this tour is linked to a specific approach. Although the works of art play a central role, they are approached with a particular theme in mind. Everyone experiences and undergoes a work of art in their own way. By means of challenging, active tasks, each person actively looks at the works of art both individually and as a group and so discovers the secrets of the works of art they encounter.
